INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANTHROPOLOGY OF DANCE, IFAD
This unique cross disciplinary project was launched by Dr Wiesna Mond in 2003. From its very origins it was meant to bridge theory with practice in the field of the performance arts. This conceptual approach is reflected in the composition of a typical festival day, namely, an academic conference in the morning, movement/dance workshops in the afternoon, dance/theatre performances or art exhibitions in the evening. The activity spurred consecutive projects into correspondence of arts, a phenomenon of synaesthesia and therapy through art grounded in neuroaesthetics. There have been four editions of the festival so far and they covered some extensive areas of the world dance cultures. In the aftermath of each individual festival unit an English post festival monograph was published with the collection of conference papers and photographs recording the festival workshops and shows.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANTHROPOLOGY OF DANCE, IFAD or Res Humana Sacra Est, established and recognised in 2003
The microcosm reflecting macrocosm has been expressing himself/herself through the icon of the human body and its language be it gestures, movements and their both universal and peculiar rhythms. The historical, social and national costumes vary from century to century, from country to country but the human body’s physical structure and its material substance remain the same. It is symmetry and verticality that create the unalternable sign of the mankind, the human body. The festival wants to explore all possible aspects of issues that are related to the sentient and performing body in an effort to find an answer to the puzzling question, namely,
WHO WO/MAN IS IN HIS/HER ESSENCE AND WHAT ARE THEIR LIMITS AND INFINITE POTENTIAL
